In Trance
I just discovered the album In Trance by Scorpions. I’ve been really attune to heavy guitar riffs lately, espcially in my disco selection (if I can find them- a la Ben Richardson’s “Skydiver” or Sharon Bailey’s “Cosmic Dust”) and a recent acquisition of the Cruising OST. This of course is pure rock and roll, but combined with sheer musicality and this pervasive dark, emotional mood (we all have moods) it should appeal to just about anyone with an open mind. Not to mention this was their second album, and dropped in 1975, so with the combined effort of producer Dieter Dierks (responsible for pioneering much of the Kraut Rock sound) sounds less hair-metal (Rock You Like A Hurricane), and more of the era of which it came.
