Fragment x Converse

These have been quite elusive to me for quite some time. I skipped purchasing the original black pair on one occasion, and then never saw them again– the red pair I never even had an opportunity.

I always kept an eye out for some, but who wants to pay some jerk on ebay $200 for a pair of chucks?

On a calm August night close to a year and a half ago, I was having a conversation with a widely known and respected authority on street-wear (whose name I will respectfully omit) on the topic of subtle styling, when the shoe was made example of. Perhaps this niché-specific idea of simplicity epitomizes much of the design work coming from Hiroshi Fujiwara, the shoe’s stylist, as well as the owner/creative director of Fragment Design and stockholder of a lot of Japanese style/fashion cred.

I lamented my inability to capture a pair to my cohort and contemplated the release of another color, and to my surprise, he responded that they was a planned release of another pair, in blue.

Now 1.5 years later, they’ve fallen into my lap– and I couldn’t be more pleased.

Shouts out to my family at Converse.
