I’m doing a lot of branding work at present. I recently went through about a thousand typefaces trying to discover a reasonable fit for my patron’s logo. During the search I discovered a fairly well known strain of typefaces including Didoni and Galeere. Both are essentially knock-offs of one amazing (though technically does not exist as it is not “functional”) typeface called Pistilli Roman.
Its a beautiful typeface, but I was particularly interested in it’s ampersand that now, as a result, graces the S&D logo. I’m not entirely abandoning Garamond Italic, but its a secondary logo this season.

One a personal note, if anyone has a vectorized format of this font, please get in touch.
Ps. Congrats to Brendan on his acceptance into Yale’s graphic design MFA program (they accept 9 people per year.)
