One of my birthday gifts to Diane was Sonya’s Shopping Manual 202-301, Korean stylist Sonya S. Park’s third installment of the series (so far, I hope). An amazing book, very well received in Japan, also an inspiration for a lot of my own personal projects.. but, as its geared for a female audience- I hope she liked the gift (how could she not?).

Stunning work over at Nomenus, shot by my dear friend and colleague Erik Madigan Heck. Released initially on Nowness, you can now see as part of the most recent release of Nomenus Quarterly (No. 11).

Here is the official release:

NOMENUS QUARTERLY 11 NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE AT WWW.NOMENUSQUARTERLY.COM

The most recent issue features: Anselm Kiefer, John Currin, Sigmar Polke, John Baldessari, Lawrence Weiner, Paulina Olowska, Lovisa Ringborg, and a portfolio of images for Rodarte’s spring summer 2011 collection. Essays included feature a retrospective glance at Sigmar Polke by George Pitts, as well as a reprinting of Anselm Kiefer’s acceptance speech for the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade, Paulskirche, Frankfurt am Main, October 19, 2008, translated by Angelika Fremd. Additionally, the 11th issue is now available in HTML 5 instead of flash, for the ease of viewing on iPods and iPads.

The 2nd featured mix will be compiled by Karlo Steel, from Atelier New York, whose mix will focus on ambient krautrock: bands from Germany 1969-1974. Followed by a 45 min set by German composer Marsen Jules, playing new and rare additions from Nostalgia and other lps. Please check NQ radio for more releases in January.

Here are some pages I scanned from TUNE magazine (an older Japanese street style mag affiliated with Fruits), presumably for some kind of inspiration.. Though many of these ‘themes’ feel a little dated, drawing 5 years later– the styling is still pretty on point. Also worth noting, at the time I’m sure seeing this probably felt quite a bit more ‘shocking’ then it does now.

For men’s shopping, Present in London is about as good as it gets. Great buying selections across the board, great collaborations, and they have the Prufrock espresso kiosk at the front of the shop set up by Gwillem Davies. So its no surprise that their “Winter Collection,” looks nothing short of amazing.

The November outfit (costume) for the New York male aged 25-30.. its like a cult.

Amazing editorial by Craig McDean in the October issue of Interview Mag, definitely worth picking up to see the shots in a larger format.

I enjoyed reading this page in the NY Times about Martin Greenfield, and returned to a few other favorites about the man including this video, and the visit to his factory by The Selby. I’ve got to get a suit made by this man…

MA-1 x Biker Jacket

This jacket is very well done— it is also a bit of an eyesore, and I couldn’t imagine it on very many of my more tasteful friends. But I’ll still co-sign on it, because I wish people would do more of these types of style/silhouette mash ups, epecially instead of appropriating famous logos or joining in the vastly overpopulated collab party. More details here.
