Quality-of-Life Index (the major step beyond the HDI) according to wikipedia:

The Economist Intelligence Unit’s quality of life index is based on a unique methodology that links the results of subjective life-satisfaction surveys to the objective determinants of quality of life across countries. The index was calculated in 2005 and includes data from 111 countries and territories.


Then there is Monocle’s Quality of Life Index, found in two places:

The first brought out of correspondence with IHT- creating a list of the World’s most livable cities, reports on urban design, etc.

The other is a weekly section that can be found on their site, and is a comprehensive guide to recommended or simply, cool, destinations and products globally.

I read an interesting post on A Continuous Lean that has been blowing up the style-internet. Its about a Japanese guy who decided to take photographs of Ivy League Preppies in the 1960s, then publish a book on it (which became extremely rare), re-release it in a small run (thus selling out immediately and remaining extremely rare) rendering the contemporary male classics obsessed portion (and their crossovers) of the said style-internet to gush over its elusiveness…
